5 Easy Ways To Get Rid Of Cockroaches

How to get rid of cockroaches?

Pest control is the toughest part of cleaning your home. It consumes a lot of time and if you leave it to professionals, it may cost you some money too. There are easy ways to get rid of pests on your own. The worst pest in the house is the cockroach! Here, let's find out how to get rid of cockroaches easily.

The most disgusting thing is finding a cockroach on the kitchen slab. These teeny tiny insects creep into your kitchen on the wee hours and cause as much as microscopical damages it can. These carry loads of germs and also thrive in the dirty zones. It is almost impossible to get completely rid of them as they can survive on any type of pest control mechanisms. We can reduce the population to a great extent with preventive mechanisms.

5 Easy Ways To Get Rid Of Cockroaches

  1. Pest control professionals

One thing I hate about pest control professionals is they screw an entire day or an entire weekend. You would be left with a truckload of stuff to sort out amidst the burning stench of the pest control chemicals. These professional pest control companies offer packages and an annual contract. Once you take up a plan with them they would visit you twice a year. Personally, I don’t prefer using these harsh chemicals in my house. So, the wise decision would be to opt for herbal pest control packages. This would include gel application and spray.

  1. DIY Pest control

The best idea to prevent cockroaches in a long run is to follow pest control protocol on your own. Take one small cup of boric powder and two cups of maida. Make a dough by adding one spoon of sugar. Roll it to small balls and let it dry. It should be the size of a naphthalene ball. Place two to three balls in your kitchen slab and counters. This keeps the cockroaches away but the process should be repeated once in every 3 months for best results.

  1. Herbal repellents

Another easy way to prevent cockroaches is to buy herbal repellents from a departmental store. These sprays are generally made of citronella oil, neem oil, and lemongrass oils and offer good results. Before closing the kitchen for the day, spray the herbal repellent on the kitchen slab and counters. Keep the counters open for the whole night. Repeat this once a week. You will be surprised to find hardly any cockroaches.

  1. Prevent cockroaches

Cockroaches breed in dirty places of the house. So, the best way to prevent the roaches is by cleaning your house regularly. Do not keep any leftover food in the kitchen during the night. Put away all the foodstuff before sleeping. For the dry food, store it in an airtight container. Clear the sink before sleeping, If you cannot do this clear away the food particles that are still stuck to the vessels.

  1. Secure the drains

Close the drain openings in the kitchen, bathroom, and washbasin before sleeping. Or place naphthalene balls over the drains. Place naphthalene balls also under the sink and use herbal sprays regularly in that region to keep the roaches away.

Before using these sprays, do not forget to close your bedrooms as the strong smell of the oils may linger overnight.

Ultimately the best possible way to prevent cockroaches is to keep your home clean, at least without food particles littered in the kitchen slab and sink. Without this, anything you do would not give you any long-term results.
